How to manually install a virtual usb printer port in xp?

Trying to install a new printer on a USB port, the XP system is unable to recognize the port. solutions??

    I don't think it's a matter of recognizing the port but more of the printer on the port. Have you tried plugging in another USB device to see if Windows recognizes that? If so, then it's your printer and you'll probably have to install the printer software first before turning your printer on (HP is notorious for that). If it doesn't recognize the othe rUSB hardware device on the port, then you should try updating windows first to get the correct USB drivers. If it still doesn't work, then I would assume you have a bad USB port and try another.

the port is not connected to the motherboard the problem is not due to operating system.

is it the port that is not being recognized or is it failing to recognise the printer? try getting the latest drivers for your motherboard from your boards makers website. you may also like to get the latest drivers for your printer from the printer makers website. if your motherboard has an nvidia chipset then go towww.nvidia.com select the drivers and software option from the list at the top of the webpage (top left) the use the list to get to the exact info/software for your chipset. that should be a similar situation for all hardwware vendors.

Could be a problem with windows itself, iv'e had that before, Had to reinstall windows.
