i was also facing same issue however unable to fix that. At last I got support from http://www.printer-techsupport.com/hp-printer-support.html I just visited and made a call on their number. I got instant help for my printer by a certified technician.

Use the setup program on the printer itself. It should have a menu on the lighted window.

You should be able to download everything you need software wise from HP. Maybe there was something you missed.

To be honest, I don't think you can set it up without the install disk. Sorry. I know several people that have purchased the install from the printer manufacure. I don't think they are expensive at all.
