Most printers require software to be able to work properly on a computer. It's possible that during your cleanup, you may have deleted or erased files that maintain this connection between your printer and the computer. If your printer does not however need any drivers or installation in the past, try restarting your computer with the printer turned on. If that doesn't work, even if your printer is connected correctly, then your problem is the connection. You should check the cords as well.

Go to printer and faxes(device and printer) - right click with your printer (on the list) - click uninstall .(Click Start, Programs/All Programs, Lexmark Z2400 Series, Tools, Uninstall Lexmark Z2400 Series.) Go out cable for your printer!! Insert cd(Lexmark 2400) in cd/dvd drive and reinstall this printer(driver and software) . Restart your pc and connect cable for printer ; wait to recognize that hardware (printer) and ready to use . Go to printer and faxes (device and printer) right click with your (new) printer - set as a default printer. Open one doc. and try to print again. Good luck !
