  • Answer:

If you run at a "normal" format resolution 1024X768, 800X600 etc. your images will be a little stretched looking, just like when viewing a "regular" format TV program or movie on an wide-screen TV. If, however, your video card is capable of running at the "real" resolution for the monitor, (check the monitor's specs) then the images will be correctly proportioned.

I have the Samsung Syncmaster 2232 22" monitor and it IS fabulous. The resolution i have on XP Pro is 1600 x 900 and it's perfect, because your graphics card will automatically give you the 1600 x 900, and 1680 x 1050 option when you goto display options .. plus in games the difference is amazing, and even more so for you with a 8800 GTX. It has 2 inputs, VGA, and DVI which i use, you can also use and HDMI to DVI convertor if your Graphics card suports it. As far as i remember, i got a cd with my Samsung monitor so that you can install profiles for the displays. Mclaren, you obviously do not have a clue what you're talking about!

I've got a 21" Widescreen Digital Monitor, and personally I think it's great. Because it's Widescreen it stretches out sideways, but after a couple of hours you don't even notice. When you get the resolution right for you, you see a lot more information on the screen. The only people who seem to comment are the one's that see it for the first time! It produces very little heat compared to a CRT Monitor and it's a lot clearer. I did though have to buy a new Video Card for it (£35). My suggestion is, go ahead and take the plunge, your'll be glad you did. I was!

it you set your screen rosolution properly then you will not have any problems. the people with problems don't have their resolution adjusted properly.
