  • Answer:

Since your PC is running, and your monitor does work..... If you are using the on-board video port, try buying a cheap PCI VGA card (they are cheap), see if your can get video from that. If you are using an independant video card, try taking the card out, and re-inserting it. Sometimes these cards can get a static charge....by taking it out and re-inserting it, you lose the static charge, and usually solve the problem. If this does not work, try using either your on board video connection, or a cheap PCI VGA card. Good luck!! Hope this helps!!

Inside your computer there is a battery that looks like a watch battery except that it is much bigger. You do not need to be a computer techie or electronics tech to take the cover off and find this battery. If you have had your computer in use longer than three years, this battery is probably dead. It is the chief cause of your symptoms, barring loose connection of monitor signal cord or fiddle finger kids having discovered the monitor controls. Do you have a teenager who went into the control panel to practice learn by doing? If not, go for the battery. Write down the number(s) and make. Go to Radio Shack and get same or equivalent. Be sure to put new one into the computer in correct polarity position. BEST TO OBSERVE THE OLD BATTERY, WHICH SIDE IS UP? (During Removal). Your computer will come back to life AMAZINGLY!!! IF not, there is some other problem, but it is ALWAYS best to check all the simple things FIRST. That is what Master Electronics Techs do. If you have to check other things, the next step is to determine whether the problem lies in the Monitor or in the video section of the computer. Easiest if you can find a WORKING Monitor of the same type. If different Monitor works, your old Monitor has a problem. If not, problem in computer. Either way, you should tap shoulder of friend who has some computer electronics competence. Tell them how you use the computer, leave it on all the time? Does it have surge suppressor, etc. If you have kids, don't overlook the kid factor. But remember, in the USA everyone is INNOCENT until PROVEN guilty. A tech can check the power supply with his multimeter. Those very easy to fix or replace, low cost.

your fan might be pulling all the electricity or your power supply is not enough to power all the devices hooked up to your motherboard. you might need to buy and install a bigger power supply.

hello, i did faced the similar problem and it came out to be the problem of the monitor. if the monitor is older than six years then its natural , get it checked . are u seeing the power light on the monitor glow, if not then supply cable may be the problem

Have you tried using your monitor with another PC or tried a different monitor on your PC? If you monitor is still dead on another PC then it is dead. If another monitor does not work on your PC then it is the Video Card or possibly the power supply.

i agree with jebarson try changing the connector - the one connects ur CPU with Monitor as well as Monitor Power cord if your monitor lights up when u put on the puter then the above possibilities are ruled out if the monitor lights up and then it goes blank check if the machine is booting at all

problem including signal cable, mother board, display card and CMOS battery. Lots of causes are there.
