  If you are undecided I would say go for a university in the United States. Most colleges in the UK run on a three year undergraduate program (thus why the degree doesn't transfer well in the Americas). With a three year program your basically expected as soon as you start college to know what you want to major in while in the United States you have usually at least a year to decide. In addition, if your setting the bar high, many of the best schools in the United States provide financial aid to foreign students so even though the price tag on many colleges in the United States are big the costs can sometimes become less than a school in the UK. United States schools have also a larger variety of top notch schools. Some are as small as 1000 students while others are 30000 students. Some schools are in warm climates while others are in colder climates. There is a lot more freedom in my opinion when choosing between United States schools. If your heart is set on the UK you can apply to some schools in the USA and UK and figure out which school you prefer later after the acceptance letters arrive.
