You could have been nominated by a teacher or for good grades. It is an amazing program. I traveled three years with them to England and France in 2008, a bunch of other countries in Europe in 2009, and in 2010 I went to Ecuador and the Galapagos with a national alumni group. I plan to travel again this summer to Costa Rica in a national alumni group. They are the best memories of my life. I can give you the links to my three websites. Some aren't finished though and a link to the people to people alumni website. We welcome new ambassadors. Just click on community and it will send you to the forum. We answer any and all questions you may have to the best of your ability. I would travel over and over again if I could on these trips. It isn't that hard to get into as well. You just need two teacher recommendations, answer some questions, and go to a interview. They accept almost anyone.

P2P and other programs like it buy your information from your school or from data compilations - you'll probably get 10 more of these before you graduate high school. It's not a nomination or really anything prestigious. The programs aren't difficult to get into but they're VERY expensive. Spending time abroad is a great experience, but it won't help you get into college (which is what a lot of people seem to think) and based on my experiences you're better off going for an entire year/semester when you're in college. It will be less expensive per day (possibly overall) and you'll get more out of it.

I was nominated forthat too *high five* it's pretty much just picking good students and such to explore other cultures. But be aware, it's VERY expensive. And it's seventeen days in Australia. My friend and I were nominated too and she's going but I can't afford it. My advice: go if you can.
