I am Scottish, how much does it cost to go to an American university?

  • I am from Scotland and university is free here, if I went to an American school (ivy league or other) how much would it cost in tuition fees and how much would my grades be worth over ...show more

  • Answer:

Ivy league schools are extremely difficult to get into. They acccept very few international students and plan on paying over $50,000 a year. Any US university is going to be at least $30,000 per year for tuition and room and board. You would need to take the SAT to apply. www.collegeboard.org

Going to university in the United States is ridiculously expensive. Everyone that I know (I am American) who is a grown adult is still paying for their college education through loans, with LOTS of interest. A lot of my friends who just left for university have started off their studies with loans of around $30,000. I think you would be given "out of state" tuition, which means you don't live there, and therefore your rates would be much higher. For example, most universities will probably be about 35,000 and up per year. Don't come here unless you plan on getting a lot of student loans!

Usually over the $35.000 per year if its an Ivy League School. and other schools can be as in living on campus $10.000 to $25.000 depending on the school.
