I loved my year in Japan as a high school exchange student. It changed my life completely. I taught for half a year in Beijing. It was a good experience, but I had a hard time. That may have been caused, in part, by arriving mid-year, so everyone else was well-established by the time I got there, and I had trouble finding my place, socially. I found Nagoya, Japan, friendlier than Beijing, China. However, a lot could have changed in recent years. Both would be outstanding opportunities. Make sure the exchange program is reputable and takes good care of its students. Rotary is truly outstanding in both regards.

Thoese 2 culture and the people are completely different. Decide with her interest. If she likes continent culture and Chinese people, and foods, then go to China.
