Can I use my portable external hard drive to run Itunes?

Can I use an external hard drive to store and run PC games or my itunes library.?

  • If yes can anyone recommend a suitable one.

  • Answer:

Yes, in theory this is easily possible. Just make sure the installation path of your game is set to the external hard drive. Likewise, make sure that iTunes knows to scan your external for files. However, expect to see a difference in read/write speed to the external hard drive, as they are generally not as fast at communicating with your computer as an internal SATA hard drive. Firewire (also known by techies as IEEE 1394) is your best bet for connecting the Hard Drive to your PC quickly - but make sure your PC has a Firewire port to connect to.
