  Hey there! I am in Buenos Aires for the Spring and Summer and provide a tour guide services to visitors to amazing Buenos Aires - I am a math supply teacher for the rest of the year in the USA. I suggest you stay in the barrios of Recoleta or Palermo. They are both safe, as is Buenos Aires generally if you use common sense. It is a damn lot safer than teaching 12 to 18 year olds!!!!! Recoleta is a great barrio, very safe and really central with great apartments. There are lots of apartments for rent in Recoleta so the prices are really good value. I rented from BAStay this year and pay $460 a month for a small one bed. I got a deal for rentaing September to March. Palermo is very expensive these days but is very much a place to party and shop, it is the barrio i most like to visit at night but when staying there I found it to noisy. I use one rental agency these days and must say that my experience with others has been very poor - go to http://www.buenosairesstay.com and speak to lorena or Terry Clarke the head of client services or concierge I think. They are Bitish run and owned and simply the best. Or try Just landed and Craigslist if you want to buy direct from landlords, I tried that in the past and have to say you might be lucky or not, some of the property owners in BA are very crooked.
