hopefully you purchased a class 6 card or better, as lower classes aren't suitable for video, just still photos. 8 GB will hold thousands of jpeg pictures. standard video rate is 6 mbps which is about 100 minutes for 8 GB. if you up the quality settings, then the storage will be reduced.
