How do I transfer my video from a MiniDV tape to my computer/disk?

The firewire output would be ideal as it outputs and accepts the full resolution from that line however if you have the analog outputs with the RED, White, and Yellow cables, you can plug that into a USB capture card. I suggest something by the brand hauppauge or Blackmagic Design. There are a few companies that made an adapter that went from MiniDV to VHS however they are mostly long gone these days. I usually only see and use MiniDV to Betacam.

The cheapest easiest way to take care of your problem is going to be replacing the camera. The adapters that worked with the vhs tapes are not compatible. there are players that can play those types of tapes but they are very very expensive. Like $1000 and up to over $20,000.
