How can i connect my camcorder which has a DV port to my Laptop which does not?

The HDMI port is no use to you either - it's an output, not an input, and the MV700 doesn't have an HDMI output anyway. The only way to capture your videos in their original quality is to add a firewire card to your laptop (or find another PC with a firewire connection). If you absolutely cannot find any way of installing firewire somewhere you can use the A/V output of the camcorder and connect to your laptop via an analog to digital converter. These are sold in electronics shops and a lot of supermarkets as VHS to DVD converters or something similar - they all do the same job. The second option will work, but don't expect great results. <edit> The eBay page says "This cable is incompatible with cameras that do not support transferring data over Firewire via USB" . I'd love to know what sort of camera they think this cable *is* compatible with - it's like selling a funnel for diesel engines that can run on petrol!
