Answer:
I will suggest you Sony DCRSR37ES Handycam Camcorder With Built-In 60GB HDD (45hrs) - This is a light and compact camcorder fitted with a high–powered Carl Zeiss lens. - Its ultra–powerful 60x optical zoom gives you outstandingly crisp and clear Standard Definition images, with space for up to 45 hours of film on its 60GB hard disc drive. - The SteadyShot feature ensures that camera shake doesn’t spoil your shots. - You can also record on an optional Memory Stick, which is removable for convenient transfers and burn DVD copies at the touch of a button. - having Smart automatic functions as well. - SteadyShot Active Mode to reduce picture blur If you are shooting with the camera in your hand, there is always a danger of camera shake spoiling your picture, even if your subject is stationary. SteadyShot is a handy digital image stabiliser that is active every time you shoot. This is especially important when using the powerful zoom to close in on details. - One touch disc burn and easy PC back up One of the great pleasures of shooting film is sharing it with family and friends. It couldn’t be easier with the SR37. Transfer your films to your PC using a super–fast USB 2.0 connection and use your DVD burner to make DVD copies. If you want to share your movies on the move, or free up memory space, you can do it quickly by using the optional portable DVD burner. This attaches directly to the SR37 with a single cable. etc..

flash is the best way to go hands down. i have a DXG-569v, it records HD video to postage stamp size SD cards, up to i believe 32 gb (basically, a whole lot of filming). i use an 8gb and never fill it up. it's now getting old, but records very good quality video. i see them now selling new for $70. there are also more expensive ones which record 1080p full high def video. but definitely go with flash. much easier to put on your computer and edit.

Mini DV's are the only way too go, sorry. The DVD cameras make it difficult to extract video off of for editing. Also they scratch and don't take well to shaky camera work. Hard Drive Cameras are cool. Very solid pieces of equipment. The problem with them though is, if you run out of space on your camera (which you will) you can't simply put another tape or media in. You have to upload all your media too a computer. So its a pain the butt. mini DV's are far from being out of date. In fact that's the format of choice for tv companies and broadcasters because of their high picture quality and durability. The key to success with mini's it to keep a log of your time code written down. That will make post production much easier. Final Cut Pro has a nice speed capture feature too. So you don't have to capture video in real time. Its a really nice feature of the program. However, I personally am not a huge fan of FC.

MiniDV is a very stable and highly compatible format. Don't think it's old and outdated just because there are newer types out there. Some of the best cameras still use MiniDV. People can barely get those technologies to work with anything. I have never had to worry if my camera or native format was compatible with my editing apps. You shold reconsider and get a new MiniDV cam. Preferably a 3CCD.
