Whats a good cheap camcorder ?

  • Answer:

I'm not sure what you would consider cheap but the Kodak ZI8 is one of the best out there in my opinion for about $100.

Kodak PlaySport (Zx3) is great! A HD movie recorder in a package that is the size of cell phone, and rugged to boot! Ease of use: It is easy to use - easy to download, too. If you connect it using USB, you need the special cable from the manufacturer, as opposed to using a standard cable. You can also copy the files from the SD card to your PC if you have a suitable slot in your machine. Video quality: The best modes also use more storage space. The quality also drops if you use the digital zoom. Get the highest capacity card you can afford, but it might have more capacity than the battery life. If you think you will be someplace where you can safely change batteries, you might consider a spare one of those - about $20. Durability: It works while being splashed or submerged in shallow water. It feels solid, not cheap. It will sink! Controls: It would be better for me if the instructions were a bit more helpful about how the controls work when in different modes. Customer support: I did not have to use any but the Kodak Website. Battery life: I am not really sure, the Kodak spec is 90 minutes at 720p @30fps It comes with a HDMI cable and a composite video and audio adapter. I guess the USB cable and tiny USB wall charger are unlisted accessories that came with mine, which are very handy to have. It would be nice to have a little bag or sleeve for it, just to keep it from getting scratched up while in my backpack. It would also be good to have a wrist adjustor on the wrist strap, to help prevent it from slipping off of your wrist while you are involved in active sports. A custom case to protect the buttons from being pressed would be very good as I have had problems with it turning on by itself and recording the inside of my backpack. As a somewhat active person and as a first responder, I am always on the lookout for good, rugged gear. I am looking forward to taking it on my next vacation and getting some great video without a lot of fuss. I do not currently own anything that I can compare it to -- but it is better than the Vivitar compact digital camera that has a waterproof case that is video capable. The other cameras we have can shoot video, but they are bigger and do not record HD and are not waterproof.

For a cheap price with good functions and cool design, I would recommend this one: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0032UWTGI?ie=UTF8&tag=passion06e-20&linkCode=as2&camp=1789&creative=9325&creativeASIN=B0032UWTGI My friend also have this one and he is more than happy with it. It meets all the normal requirements for a camcorder.
