It need to be unplugged if you don't have a surge surpressor.

Sir J

I dont think so unless its connected to an outside wire like a cable connection.

Manish K

I do. I unplug it as well. If I don't my modem gets fried everytime.

bookfreak2day

i don't

I think if you have a surge protector you should be fine. But, don't ask my grandma-she unplugs everything but her refrigerator!! LOL

blondie77f

yes you should, because it might short. and you might lose some pertinent info.

azriel

Why take a chance? Turn it off and unplug it completely.

J.D.

I always do, even though I have a surge protector bar. An electrical lightening strike is much worse than a normal electrical surge!

I would unless you have a gr8 confidence of the surger u plug it into is good even still don;t trust that. shut it down properly then unplug it. when u replug it in make sure u plug it in wall ( that surger u should have it plugged into then restart ur comp.) Even if the comp is shut off power can surge thru when u turn it back on and fry it so.. yea be safe
