    ok i got it. your hard drive has failed. it happened to my laptop when i got mad and hit it right in the strike zone. BUT IT WOULD OF BEEN IMPOSSIBLE FOR THAT TO HAPPEN WHEN A BALL HITS IT whats more likely to of happened is your sister was curious. picked it up and the dropped it on the side of the hard drive. there is simply too much protection in that ps3 for a soft bouncy ball to wreck it

Hmm...maybe stop taking your PS3 around sporting events? That should help anymore damage from balls.

It definitely can be the ball.....These gaming systems are as a rugged as they used to be (Snes, Sega, N64,etc.) because they are more advanced and are more like computers now... I broke two external hard drives and i've messed up my laptop dropping it only a few feet from the ground on carpet.. My PS3 though, I treat it like a baby since I don't wanna take the risk of it breaking.

Well I don't think so there's a strong plastic coding around it that is almost as strong as a weak metal, unless a piece of the GUI was loose inside of it (GUI is graphical user interface, basically the images to choose stuff). In most cases the ball would probably not do anything unless your PS3 fell when it hit it.

It's a PS3 thats why it isn't working. Now, my serious answer. It is because of the ball. Unless of course you spuilled somthing on it. It probably broke somthing or messud up the HDD or processor.
