your Mac's fine. Personally I'd spend a bit of time on C - there virtually isn't a major language in use today that doesn't owe something to it. Top selling languages are currently Java, ruby, php, javascript (a bit surprisingly) and C(++). java, javascript and php are all heavily rooted in C so if you know it you can learn them more easily. for ide you can use the very excellent code::blocks but eclipse and netbeans are both industry standard and available for macos. good luck :D

Macs are generally better for programming the most common languages(PHP,Java,C++,etc) because they are based on a UNIX infrastructure. As for what language you should start out with, that is really up to you. Here is a good Java tutorial series: You can get an IDE like netbeans or eclipse for writing your code. In all, you should stick with your mac, it's pretty much like having all the important features of linux with a nice interface and more options. If it comes to you having to use windows you can always duel-boot OSX plus Windows 7.

It depends. The choice should be based on a number of factors, including most particularly: - What are you aiming to do with programming? - What sort of learning curve do you want? - What do the people around you (who may be able to help you) already know? Without knowing these things, I usually recommend Java as a first language. It is expressly designed to be cross-platform, so whether you're using Macintosh or Windows shouldn't matter much with it. For some other languages, Windows or Linux may be preferred to Macintosh. And in certain cases, Macintosh and Linux are both preferred to Windows, because they provide Unix behavior whereas Windows has its own way of doing things.

leetcoders.org is a programming forum which may have the answers you need. You can make a new thread to ask a specific question but usually the search function does the job. In addition to being a programming forum, leetcoders also has other geeky and technical forum sections involving computers, digital art, SEO, hardware, modding and webmastering. It is worth a shot to take a second to check it out if you need your answer. Hope this helped. http://leetcoders.org

You only need a PC for programming with Microsoft technology like C#, .NET, DirectX etc, if you want to use Visual Basic. Otherwise Macs are great for programming, no need for any doubts on that at all, just concentrate on what language you want to learn, if its not a Microsoft language or tech, you are good on the Mac, never have to doubt that.
