I like to have a stiff drink and a good cry when I have a car emergency...then I just wait for some handsome bloke to come by and rescue me...

Blankets. Hot drink in flask. Tow rope, torch, mobile phone, chocolate. all the usual things you'd carry anyway but checked to see if theyre ok.

It really depends on your abilities and where you live. Why have a tool kit if you don't know how to use them and your not going to have replacement parts? If you live somewhere cold where it snows a lot, its a good idea to have several warm blankets, some non perishable foods that are ready to eat (atleast enough for a full day for you and a friend) and a basic first aid kit with band aids, aspirin or Tylenol, and some medical tape and gauze. Have a spare tire and make sure to check it once a month (or atleast have it checked during an oil change).

get some non pershable food such as candy bars gum and things that keep for long periods of times. get one of those small telescoping snow shovels for your car, a big life saver is a portable battery jumper pack with an air compressor and always have some water and flashlights along with a blanket. if you do ever get stranded always strap a red ribbon to your antenna. one more thing always keep your gas tank filled up all winter so you can stay warm and to add extra weight to your trunk. thats what i do and it has already saved me.
