What does it mean to jailbreak an ipod touch?

  • Im getting the new ipod touch for xmas and was wondering what it meant to jailbreak an ipod. Is it worth it, and does it affect any guarantees or anything? thanks

  • Answer:

it means to put in applications that werent meant for the ipod and i think it voids the warranty its like putting nitrous in your car then you end up blowing the engine, its not gonna be covered cause the car didnt come with nitrous but yea ipods suck anyways

It used to be a really big thing, before Apple released their app store. Before Apple did that, jailbreaking was the only way you could get apps onto an iPhone or iPod touch. Now, you can do it without jailbreaking, so it is much less popular. You can still do a couple of things with jailbreak that you can't with the app store though, such as using apps like NES emulators and apps that run even while they're not open. It's pretty cool, and not that hard with the iPhone Dev Team's new QuickPwn tool (google it)
