How can you convert a Mp4 format song to a Mp3 format?

I want to download a couple of songs off of iTunes, but those songs are Mp4 format and my Mp3 player just plays Mp3's.

MP4 is a video format. MP3 is a audio format. An MP3 player which cannot play videos does not play MP4 or WMV or such video formats. So first see wether ur MP3 player can play videos or not.
