I wish people would stop trying to measure song capacity by the number of songs. It's widely inaccurate because song length and bitrate will change the size of the song. a song file can range from 2 to 10 mb. If you want to know how much space your songs will take up, you don't need to guess - just download iTunes (it's free - many people seem to think otherwise) and import your iTunes into it. ITunes will tell you how much space that will take up. The 8 GB actually has about 6.6 GB. My 35 hours of music take up about 2.5 to 3 GB. You might and might not need Applecare. It's like insurance.
