How do I turn off an iPod Touch?

leave it in the water till it turns off

you hold down the sleep/wake button on the top until on the screen it says "slide to power off" and you slide it and it shuts down

ok well all u do is hold the sleep/wake button at the top of the ipod and slide to power off will come up and just slide ur finger but turning it off and back on will drain the battery faster i should know so i would just put it to sleep how u do this is just press the sleep/wake button and the screen will turn off and just press it again to wake it up hope i answered ur question :)

Hold down the black bar button on top (or side for 2g) for about three seconds, when you let go, the screen should show a slider for powering the device off.

Press and hold the lock button on the top of it, bar will come up that says slide to power off. Slide the red arrow to the right. To turn it back on press and hold the lock button until the apple comes up.
