Can I connect an HDMI to RCA cable to a standard DirecTV DVR?

How can I connect my HD DVR receiver (DIRECTV) to my RCA DLP HDTV with HDMI cable if my TV doesn't have HDMI ?

I'm sure joe r meant component, not composite. I think converters from HDMI to component (analog) are illegal (because of copy protection issues).

if your TV does not have HDMI then you are going to have to use the composite connections red/green/blue (for high def) with an additional cable for the audio, depending on the connections of your TV (from good to best) RCA red/white, coaxil, optical... for standard def either the red/yellow/white component connection, or the ant out...
