  • Answer:

I have seen a few repair quotes for LCD and plasma TVs and none have been less than $1000, even for a 32" lcd repair. I would recommend simply buying a replacement. A teriffic buy would be a Panasonic 50PX80U for about 1000; this is a killer TV today and is far superior to any plasma made three years prior. Just goggle "Panasonic plasma TV reviews" and you'll see what i mean. As for your short life I would suggest using STANDARD picture mode instead of vivid or dynamic which set contrast and britenest too high and subsequently your tv runs hot. STANDARD is the factory calibrated setting and will give you a wider tonal range and the TV will run cooler and last a lot longer.
