Besides the price, what's the difference between LCD and Plasma flat screen TV's?

LCD uses less power. More LCD TVs are 1080i as compared to Plasma. Plasma TVs weighs more and generates more heat. Colors on plasma can be better and more vibrant. Plasma image is 'faster' for motion, though the new LCDs have a very fast response rate. In the old days Plasma TVs colors would start to fade.. don't think that is an issue any more. LCD can have bad pixels. I prefer LCD... as it is more important that I get 1080i resolution.

I think LCDS are better. I have 3 of them and had a plasma. The plasma didnt look as clear to me. But thats just my thoughts on it.

Its worthwhile researching on the Net, alot of people will tell you different versions. Generally, one is not better than the other. General rule of thumb that alot of people use is up to 42", LCD. 42" and bigger, Plasma. The general characteristics are. LCD Use less power Sharper Images Becoming more popular (Maybes due to aggressive marketing) Ability to put more Pixels on the screen Non reflective screens Plasma Quicker response, giving more fluid motion More natural colours Bigger screens Copes with Digital TV better Better blacks Downside to LCD is that the image can stutter on fast images or camera pans. Also, screens can be fragile, so avoid use with small kids. Downside to Plasma is image burn in and reflective screens. Dont be drawn in by alot of the myths about Plasma. Modern Plasma will not suffer from burn in like they used to, unless you intend to spend 8hrs a day watching a timetable screen. Any minor image retention you get from static images (from displaying for long periods ie, 24hr+ can be sorted by by running normal programming for a while. Also, Plasma DOES NOT leak gas and does not need recharging. Many people quote the lifespan of TV set. You will get about 30 000 hrs + out of modern Plasma, more from LCD. Do the math! By the time the go after normal viewing, you will have had about 15 years out of them. Imagine what TV's will be like then! Personally, I prefer Plasma, but the next guy will prefer LCD. My advice is to go to a showroom, look at both, play with the picture settings and look at various types of inputs, eg, normal programming and HDTV etc. Then go with your gut on which you like best. The are both really good technologies. Dont wait for the argument to be settled on which one is best, it will go on forever!

i second groverraj's answer... i'd suggest getting an LCD... save yourself some money and still get a great image...
