Can you swim in college even if you didn't swim on your high school team?

I don't think a college would want to take someone with no team experience at all. I'm sure you can try out but if you have little knowledge of the competetive swimming field, they might want you to take a class or two... or just sit on the side lines for a while. But ya never know... if you're really good... they might just want to train you! Good luck!

It's really hard to actually make a college swim team tryout set if you've never swam before. I'd say it's doubtful. It depends on the school you want to swim for. If it's a big school, don't even bother. If it's a smaller school, give it a try.
