    i bet if you took it to the shop to be cleaned they will clean it the same way you refuse to clean it.just go to the supermarket and look for any products that says it will clean a TV screen.

A white smear huh? that is very wierd, do you have hard water? I would most likely take it to the shop, but you might want to try a light detergent, just use a bit of hand soap (nothing harsh like dial). see if that helps, if it is under warranty then take it in if that does not help.
