What's the best HDTV converter box compatible antenna?

If you have a HDTV Antenna do you need a DTV Converter Box?

  • If you have a HDTV antenna for your TV, do you still need a DTV Converter Box?

  • Answer:

No sort of antenna will negate the need of a convertor box, if you need one anyways. So called "HD" or "Digital" antennas are made or optimized for the frequencies that digital TV will end up using. They will otherwise output the same signal as an older antenna will. You will still need to tune the digital signal somehow; with a convertor box, recorder with digital tuner, or a TV with a digital tuner.

Short and simple. 1. THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS "HDTV/DIGITAL ANTENNA" don't waste your money. Regular rca rabbit ear antennas work the same as other ones. However, the ones that are "amplified" can boost the signal reception rate if regular rabbit ear antennas are not working well. Bottom line is, THERE IS NO HDTV antenna, but AMPLIFIED antennas can be helpful. For more info, check out http://www.dtv-hdtv.com/viewforum.php?f=4

No such thing as an HD antenna, so yes, unless your TV is digital.
