    >Will a converter box also help my hdtv that is using an antenna? That depends. The tuners in some converter boxes like Zenith/Insignia seem to be as good as the latest HDTV tuners. So if the tuner in the HDTV with rabbit ears is more than a couple of years old a converter should have a better tuner that is more tolerant of lousy signals. With a government coupon it will only cost you $20 to find out and if it doesn't help, you can always give it to someone or sell it on craigslist. The converter boxes only output SD analog signals, so this is not a perfect solution. I'd probably wait a couple of months before buying one. All the early boxes to hit the stores have their quirks. Manufactures are already working on better models. It will probably take the government a couple of months to send you a coupon anyway. If a converter doesn't do the trick, you need a better antenna. If you ask another question about antennas, include what you have now and your ZIP code. What type of antenna is best depends on your location.
