How do I calculate the strain/extension of cable - diameter/length/force applied +Youngs modulus are known?

E = change in stress / change in strain E is the Young's Modulus change in stress = force applied / cross sectional area change in strain is what you need to solve for, which should be a % because it is the physical extension divided by the original length.
