  • Answer:

The best Polaroid 600 camera was the SLR 690. It has sonar autofocus and manual controls as well. You can switch off the flash and focus very close. Obviously it is very expensive and a fairly delicate so treat it with care if you buy one. Polaroid went bankrupt many years ago. The company no longer exists, though the name was purchased by a holding company and the Polaroid name is used on various products. Polaroid 600 film is now manufactured by an experimental group, Impossible Project, who took over the last Polaroid film facility. Unfortunately their film is not perfect and if you buy an SLR 690 you may get undeveloped partches. There is a work around, involving careful application of pressure on either side of the camera. This always works for me, so if you end up buying the SLR 690, look up undeveloped patches on the internet. You will find a video on the Impossible Project website where they show you the technique.

Polaroid is an interesting camera to choose... mainly because not many people are interested in them. Your demand for yellow pictures presents a problem... Having one, I don't know of any setting that can manipulate the picture to have a yellow tint. Software can take care of that issue on your PC when you download them however. That being said... the 700 series are all the best of the polaroid set. they are quite capable of taking a great shot. For whatever reason you like yellow, NONE of them can provide that feature without a pc or having a printer cartridge low on ink or printing incorrectly. Good luck!~ Chris

There's two main Polaroid cameras which you can get. One is to get the Polaroid 600 series of cameras, which you can pick up for about $30 at Walmart. Type 600 film is readily available and can be found at department and drug stores. If you're really into Polaroid instant cameras, look on eBay or Craigslist for the older Polaroid "pack film" cameras, which don't have a motor to spit out the film. Instead, after you take the photo, you have to pull the film out manually, wait about a minute, then peel the paper off to get to the photo. Really cool. What's even weirder is that you can get Fujifilm instant film for the Polaroid packfilm cameras and it works really well. Also, you can get black and white instant film too for these kinds of cameras. This is the best website I've found for a history of Polaroid cameras, so you can see what's been out there and make your pick from historic, used cameras as well as seeing what's newer: http://www.rwhirled.com/landlist/landhome.htm Have fun!
