Is the Sony Alpha A350 any good?

Which lens would take high speed, lower light situations for my Sony Alpha A350 DSLR?

Budget? Budget? Budget? You need to tell us how much you want to spend. You have the A350, so I guess the answer is not a lot! You will not be able to afford the Sony G lens. While the Minolta 70-210mm f4 "beer can" is a good lens (I have one) the auto-focus is s-l-o-w. It is barely adequate on my high torgue Sony A700. Depending how far away you are, you could try manual focus on it, but the focus ring isn't fantastic. How much are you prepared to spend???

Another vote for the Sony 70-200 f/2.8G, if you can swing the price. If not, look at both the Tamron and Sigma versions of the same lens, which can be had for less than half the cost of the Sony version. Another option would be the Sigma 100-300 f/2.8, but that costs even more than the Sony. The Minolta 70-210 f/4 would be almost as good, and you can pick one up for less than $200. If you can work with the noise issue, the Sony 75-300 f/4.5-5.6 is a decent lens too, although it is slow to focus in dim light. If you have enough distance, manual focus can help tremendously with that lens.

A 70-200mm f2.8 will suit your needs but it'll cost you.

You own a Sony camera and Sony's own website lists lenses for low light shots here. http://www.sony.co.uk/hub/dslr/lenses/low-light-lens I'd have probably looked there before coming here. Job done! Sigma and Tamron also make lenses between f/1.4 and f/2.8 so there's plenty of choice.

something with a large aperture e.g. f2.8 or lower.
