How do I transfer music from my ipod to my pc?

I bought a new pc, how do I transfer all my daughters music and such from her ipod to the new pc?

  • I cannot do a file transfer as the old pc doesn't work.

  • Answer:

The most convenient and secure way is to use an iPod-to-computer transfer program to help you, like this handy one called Tansee iPod Transfer http://www.gutensoft.com/Utilities/Tansee-iPod-Transfer.htm Many of my friends are using it for its easy and safe transfer. With just a few simple clicks, it will help you transfer all songs/videos from iPod to your selected folder on your new pc, and then you can also easily add those files back to iTunes. More importantly, this won't overwrite any original files on her iPod. And all song titles are preserved. Here is the step-by-step guide on the whole process: http://gutensoft.com/Guide/How-to-transfer-songs-and-videos-from-ipod-to-computer.htm Best luck!

Hi katshaw_1, iTunes prevent you from transferring iPod content to iTunes or computer. What you need is an iPod to PC transfer tool which will help you back up all the content on your iPod to your hard drive.

If you're NOT using an iPod Touch and you don't feel like downloading anything, you can do this for free. Just involves a little more work. Open My Computer and go to the Tools menu, select Folder Options. Click on the View tab and make sure that Hidden Files and Folders is set to show. Ok out of those menus. Open up the iPod disk drive that is on your computer and go to the iPod_Control folder, inside there you want to copy the Music folder and paste it onto your computer's hard drive somewhere. You can rename this Music folder to something like "<your daughter's name> Music". Then just drag-and-drop this new folder onto the iTunes Library.

When you plug in the iPod to the new computer a confirmation window will appear asking if you want to sync the iPods media onto your iTunes library. You simply have to confirm it.

Download iTunes onto the new PC, and then sync the ipod with the computer. Something will pop up saying your daughter needs to authorize the computer with her old account, I think you can only authorize like 5 computers. After that, you should be golden. :)

put all her music on a flash drive and transfer it like that. or if you dont have a lot of music, you can email the files.

There's a free application called "iDump" that lets you move music from iPod to iTunes on the new PC. Go to www.download.com and do a search for "iDump", and download it to the new PC. Make sure you also have iTunes installed on the new PC.
