If I cancel my Sky subscription, can I still view the freeview channels ?

Yes you can continue to watch the freeview channels, and the dish and box become your property when you subscribe to the service sky can't and won't take them back.

If you cancel sky, you will no longer be able to receive any channels you could receive on sky previously, and they might very well ask for the box and dish back. To view freeview, you will need to buy a separate freeview box and you may need an aerial upgrade for the huge TV aerial on the roof of your house. If you wish to watch freesat, then you will need a freesat satellite dish, and if you paid for your sky dish then you will probably be allowed to keep it. otherwise you will need to buy a freesat dish. Freeview and Sky are beamed to your TV in different ways, because sky is satellite and so sends the data in microwaves, whereas freeview is sent on a different kind of wave from a big antenna on the ground, and so cannot be picked up in satellite dishes, just as sky cannot be picked up via aerial. If you cancel sky, you can watch freeview, as long as you buy a freeview box and have the right aerial.

You can still watch Freeview, but you will need to get a Freeview box. It is likely that Sky will want their equipment back.
