What does Auto-Sap mean on tv audio?

If I turn on my tv and it shows 1080p@60hz, does this mean my tv is a 60hz tv?

  • I bought a tv from best buy, the add said 120hz, but it does not say that on the box or in the setup, I have a HDMI cable that is good up to 240hz

  • Answer:

Any info you see displayed on the screen is the incoming signal, not what your tv is displaying. If your tv is 1080p, 120hz it will always display at that resolution and hz rate, it upconverts in coming signals to it's native numbers. Put your make and model number into google and see what it's native numbers are and then you'll know what you have.

Your normal home power is 120 Volts at 60 hz. The 'refresh rate' is a different animal in the display refresh, to help with the LCD/LED blur on fast action.

Your tv will only display what it is being feed. The display on the screen is what you are receiving. Look on the owners manual for upgrading/selecting your tv to the 120HZ, specially for sport and video games. The 120HZ is the refresh rate for LCD and LED tvs only. Hope this will help you out.

3 possible reasons, your higher hz is turned off, you playback is only playing back in 60fps, or its a 3d tv, in witch case it divides by 2 because both eyes get 60fps.seperatly

It could mean the TV is receiving a 60Hz signal. No broadcast signals have a higher frame rate than 60.
