    Sony & Samsung funded a joint venture to produce an LCD screen manufacturing plant, though they share technology, Sony's LCD screens are spec'd differently from those that Samsung uses. Also, Samsung does limit Sony to NO more than 25% of the production from this plant. Sony must, therefore purchase additional LCD screens from another manufacturer. That LCD screen manufacturer is Sharp.

there are only about 4 screen manufactureres, but sony make their own image chips, and this makes the pictures better than some other makes. Personally i think toshiba do the best ones.

Jeez, there's been some twaddle spoken here! Here's the facts: - Sony and Samsung 'share' a factory in Eastern Europe called S-LCD. It's a 50:50 joint venture. Sony and Sharp recently signed a deal to collaborate on LCD research.
