How important it is to have an LCD TV with 100hz?

Calling the experts - how does a 100Hz LCD TV compare to a 600Hz (sub field) Plasma?

I'll bring the beer. (Moose Head, of course) After a few, Alana will have it all figured out.

The LCD TV is much better than the Plasma because it is best for video games.

One other thing. 600 is divisible by 24, 30 AND 60. Hollywood movies are fimed at 24 frames per second. TV shows / Broadcast Video is broadcast at 30/60 frames per second. To watch a movie on television, they have to convert from 24 to 30 (unless you have 120 or other multiple of 24 like 600 to view at the native frame rate). This conversion is done, essentially, by taking the original four film frames and making a fictional fifth one and playing those five at the same speed as the original four (because 24*5/4 = 30). Artifacts created by this process are called Judder and we've lived with it for decades - most of us didn't even realize it. A 100Hz TV can't play a 24 fps (frames per second) movie at its native frame rate, but 120 or 600 could. Pretty cool that.

Plasma have much better response than LCDs. The 600 Hz spec is more of a marketing response than anything useful. Plasma usually have higher contrast and more bits/pixel; so unless you plan to play games, get a plasma.
