I would avoid that car. It is true what you hear about that vintage 2004- 2008 Maxima and their transmissions. Even worse, it's a $7,000 CVT transmission and at that age, you're footing the bill. They also have issues with the timing chain as well.

The 2004 Nissan Maxima looks like a nice first car. I have looked up reviews to see how it is and most of them are very negative. "Got it in 2004 and by 2009 the transmission went out! I will NEVER buy another Nissan." "Worse NISSAN EVER Made." and so on. although it gets about 21 mpg (combined), that should not be the only reason to get a car.

I had a few Maximas in the past. And i don't like it.. But LOVE It! Try to buy with low miles and well maintained and you won't have any problems. I had 180k miles on mine, and it was like new. Suggest it! Best of Luck!
