Go with the long cage without problem. You could have an issue if you go the other way and buy a short cage when you need a long one. Edit: There is a way to calculate the length needed based on the number of teeth or chain slack differential between using the larger gears and the smaller ones. Mountain bikes and triples chain rings always use long cages because there is a wide range of gears.
