How to become a music producer?

  • what kind of school do i need or just how do i become a music producer?

  • Answer:

i'm doing it at college next year, i've already started producing, using programs such as cubase, reason, and acid pro. Just make a few tunes, stick 'em on myspace or something, spread the word. Hopefully people like your stuff, and someone may ask you to do some sort of job for them, and you just progress. i have a myspace of a few novelty songs www.myspace.com/djslipper (if you can really be bothered)

All you need is a computer with a program such as Cakewake or ProTools, some microphones, and a way to record the music onto your computer. Read lots of books and magazines, and go out and meet local bands and music makers, and experiment. Listen to new music constantly.

If you had the money, the Berklee School of Music is the place to go, its a school that specializes in music, production, engeneering, etc. If you dont have the 30000 dollars a semester you could enroll in any college, and some community colleges even offer courses. But ofcourse those arent as famous and itll take longer to get into the field
