How to replace jeep parts?

About how much will it cost to replace the ball joints in a 2003 Jeep Liberty including parts and labor?

  • Answer:

the ball joints in the liberty are awful - call a local dealer & I'm sure they are under recall - free replacement for life! - do not delay - I have seen lower ball joints break off & cut rims in half while driving down the road - it can be quite dangerous and should be addressed immediately!!!!. just have any dealer do a vin inquiry on your vehicle and have them look for the f23 lower ball joint recall.

that should be under recall, call the dealer with your vin, and be careful. we see the wheels fall off on a regular basis

call the dealer to see if the recall has been done, all jeep libertys built before a certain date have been recalled for lower ball joints to be replaced because they are wearing out prematurely. i know this is fact because i work at dodge/jeep/chrysler dealer.if your jeep is out of the recall range i would expect to pay 350-450 dollars for repairs including front end alignment

2003 model seems awfully new to need ball joints already unless you are traveling on bad roads a lot. Anyway, most dealers have a price per hour charge that can be usually starting at $35/hour to $100/hour. Ball joints themselves run about $52(need 2) each but you can also buy the control arm assembly unit that has the ball joint already with them at about $185 each(need 2). So depending on what path you decide to take determines your final cost. Just ball joints alone I would estimate at the most $300-$400 though. Find a reliable friend to replace them that knows what they are doing would be a cheap solution and when they are done maybe get it professionally aligned just to be on the safe side that they didn't mess with your tie rod ends, them being messed with would cause tire wear. Getting a friend might cost the parts, a 12 pack of beer and then the cost of alignment. $150 about, lol.

call the dealership for pricing. I said dealership because if you buy elsewhere you'd be buying refurbished stuff and you never know with any of those. Buying from the dealer is a little pricey buy you'r getting the original. As far as labor, where d'you want to go, roadside or dealer? The pricing depends on that. The roadsider price depends very much on negotiation but the dealership price is pretty fixed per hour. I doubt if any1 would be able to give you a price or even a price range. You'd pretty much have to figure it out yourself after a you separate the price of parts.
