Can a newbie take a basic Jeep Wrangler through the Rubicon Trail?

    Experienced Jeepers have said the trail can be completed by stock Jeeps if they take all the easy detours. That's what used to happen in the days of CJ5's with no lockers or winches. Now, apparently, their are " black diamond" short cuts that are best handled with locking differentials and at least one winch on a vehicle in the group. Body damage is expected! I would hook up with a trail service and see what they can do. You would be best going with someone experienced who can winch you off a rock you didn't want to live on for a few days. You will need your own recovery equipment - jack, gloves, d-rings, hooks, tow ropes, etc. Lots more info on Jeep forum websites, use search and you will find the question already answered.

I would suggest riding it with someone who has more experience before you try to take your own rig over it. IF/When you do take your own rig, take an spotter you trust. If they tell you to turn your wheel a certain way, it could end up rolling your rig.
