  • Answer:

What you're suggesting is illegal, and you'll get done (again) for it. Unless you plan on spending your entire life driving badly and illegally the only thing you can do is either not have a car or pay for your errors.

DR10 conviction stays on license for 11 years from date of conviction. Offence code IN10 must stay on a driving licence for four years from date of offence. Offence codes LC20 to LC50 must stay on a driving licence for four years from date of offence. So you got done for Drink Driving, no Insurance and Driving without full license and you think that you should be allowed to do as you detail above? Your fathers 8 years no claims bonus relates to him not the car that is being insured, and more fool him if he is prepared to risk his no claims on someone who clearly is irresponsible. You made the mistakes and you should pay for them. So your insurance is going to cost you dearly, you should have thought of that before getting behind the wheel of car and putting other peoples lives at risk as well as your own!

Totally illegal and the insurance company are within their rights to withhold payment in the event of a claim. If your father is found to be involved in this fraud then he will loose his no claims bonus and will have his name flagged up between companies as uninsurable due to fraud.

No matter what fiddle you try, once they learn of your abysmal driving record you are going to find it next to impossible to get any reasonably cheap insurance. If they accept you at all.

"so idea is to insure my car registered in his name" That is called "fronting". Fronting is classed as insurance fraud. You can go to prison for fraud.

Yeah, you can do this but remember that while you do this you won't be builkding up a no claims bonus for yourself. For young drivers, the best way to get a foot on the car ownership ladder is to get like a 1980 fiat panda, something like that, will be cheap to insure, then you can build up your experience. And if you crash it, it doesn't really matter, just get another one.
