Certainly the religion of Voodoo has a magickal practice as part of it. Many people advise that it is not a good idea to cast magick to make someone specific fall in love with you. Because you are interfering with their freedom. It is better to cast magick to bring new love into your life, without specifying an individual. You can also make magick to enhance your own attractiveness. Magick is about controlling your mind. It's best to start with learning meditation. I have not studied Voodoo. But a good beginner book in magick is "The One Year Manual" by Israel Regardie.

The color coding comes from the person's intent but its no more meaningful than saying water is black or evil because someone can drown in it.
