Do you believe the superstition that if a black cat crosses your path you will have bad luck?

I thought that it was good luck if a black cat crossed your path and stayed on the other side. But it is bad luck if it crosses your path and then runs away.

I've owned several black cats before. I assume it doesn't count if it's your own cat. I don't believe in it either way. But if you believe you'll have back luck then that will cause it to happen.

No....they're not bad luck...unless you own one and it happens to trip you up every time you open the can of cat food! (lol) Nah - I think you're just more perceptive about the "bad" things happening after you notice one.....I'll bet if you wouldn't see one cross your path, you wouldn't take note of so much "bad luck". You notice these things more simply because seeing the cat made you more aware of those things. Now - walking under a ladder -definitely bad luck - they can fall on top of you.....

Maybe its time to do something spiritual about your life. Buy white flowers put some cologne and bathe with them to wash away the evil. Start doing something spiritual so the angels that are near you can protect you. Find a small red cloth and put it in your purse and your hubby one in his pocket. That way itll protect you and evil will just walk by and leave you alone. Any doubts let me know.

I don't, but my family line on my mother's side, and this also includes my daughter, has an innate fear of cats. My wife and I were very careful not to tell my daughter of this fear. She just automatically has it. I do think cats operate on a different plane than humans and dogs. Totally irrational. So they are tied into images of witches and "black magic." My late mother very much believed that superstition.

I am not superstitious. What in the world can a black cat have to do with your bank taking out two payments? I think it's just life. You have to deal with the situation at hand. Don't try to blame it on something "larger" or something supernatural. It is what it is, an accounting error. I know many people who've lost their battle with cancer so I feel your pain. But no greater force caused their deaths. It was simply the result of cells in the body gone haywire. If you don't believe me, step on a crack and see if you break your mother's back.

I've known several people who had black cats, and they weren't unlucky. If the superstition was true, they'd have awful luck with those black cats crossing their paths many times every day.If anything bad happens after a black cat crosses your path, it's just coincidence. It would've happened whet er the cat crossed your path or not.

This superstition is possibly turning your lives into a self-fulfilling prophecy by making you accident-prone.
