hp is so simple to get and it's entirely free. torque x rpm divided by 5252 = hp. So all you need is more rpm. Simple eh mate !!

remaping (or superchiping) does not give huge bhp gains to a naturally aspirated (non-turbo) engine. you will likely see less than 8-10bhp (as opposed to 25+ bhp for a turbo). however, the remap can help smooth power output through the rev range. this will make your car slightly quicker though. you could use a K&N filter as suggested, this would see a few bhp. your probably best investing in a set of coilover springs. with uprated springs, you will be able to carry more speed into corners. upgrading the brakes as well would allow you to brake later.

intakes are usually a good way to go, im not too familiar w/ civics but most quality bolts on will give you a few HP. you could also remove the rear seats to make it lighter. and thats free. if you had a budget we could help you more alot of people say you have to spend 100$ per HP - of course all cars are different and some have easy tricks to get HP, but if its a type R it already tuned pretty decent from the factory and the only way to get big gains is going forced induction.

K&N air filter... Throw some octane booster in there too... Guaranteed...
