I've never put any proxy till date. Finally I became a victim of W GRADE in my final semester. How can I defend it? Keeping the level of proxies and the system in view @IITM?

Dude, seriously? You're complaining that you bunked lectures and then got a W? Lots of junta put proxy doesn't mean that putting proxy is a good thing. What do you mean you're a "victim"? Did the prof mark you absent for classes that you did attend? You screwed up, face it like a man (I'm assuming you're a guy). On a more serious note, putting proxy is kinda like forgery... It is ironic that a lot of insti junta support AAP and Kejriwal because of their anti-corruption thingy, and then put proxies for lectures and copy assignments. P.S. I never put a single proxy or asked anyone to put for me. I didn't get any Ws (except for an Industrial Lecture when prof screwed over our entire batch).

Jokes apart, you cannot defend yourself with ethical reasoning. It just doesn't work that way. Go to the hospital and get a medical certificate. If it doesn't work, try Photoshop.

Well, if you have decided not to put proxy, then I am guessing that you respect the system, and hence I believe you would have already understood the risks if you ever fall short of attendance. Now complaining about it is kind of pointless. If you were man enough not to put proxies, you should be man enough to accept the consequences. Coming to the point, you can't expect the people who designed any system to accept that it is flawed. Its the same case here. Just because a lot of the people beat it, no one in the administration is going to accept that and value your honesty. I have put very few proxies in my 5 years here. I try my best not to. After a few nervous experiences with some near-W misses, I finally decided that if it reaches a state where it endangers me again, I will resort to proxies. Just because, there is no point upholding a system which is so flawed. Getting a W grade and repeating a course for this cause is not just worth it. Life is not about doing the right thing everywhere, its about doing the right thing where it matters. Clearly, this isn't one.

Quite clear. profs not only in our insti, but all profs wont realise. The world is like that. IIT is not an exception. Certainly u cannot defend this in iit. Better to get some medical reasons or something to get outta it. Tell u that dont true always coz the ppl ll ride in ur back so happily.

You cannot prove that you never were involved in a proxy. Even if you did, that doesn't mean that you are given extra attendance. It's like you are asking for a favor because you didn't rape anyone. There is no agreement that you get extra attendance if you do so. After all it's you fault to not attend minimum number of classes. P.S:- If you would've put proxy for friends I feel that you would not be on this state now. Being truthful I'd not so easy.
