Why don't you ask the shop that verified the pressure was in spec? the gm gauges in that era were notorious for being bad ...most people choose to ignore not fix...when they read right people still complain the pressure is too low these engines run about 10psi per1000rpm..new the oil pump pressure was below 10 psi at hot idle..

Depends on if you used a cheap oil filter or not. Is there any noises? Could be worn out cam bearings. How much oil pressure do you have at the sensor & at the oil filter? Did your mechanic test at the sensor or at the oil filter?

If oilressure test shows pressure is good? Then gauge or sensor is wrong. Did we try replacing sender ?

It could be a faulty oil pressure sensor or faulty oil pump.
